About The Course

Adult amateur flute players, this vacation is designed for your enjoyment and participation. Come together with other flute lovers for a week of chamber music and instruction in a nurturing, supportive and noncompetitive atmosphere. Spend a week in a charming bed and breakfast in the St. Dunstan neighborhood of Asheville, minutes from the historic Biltmore Village and Estate, and the eclectic downtown with its art galleries, bookstores and coffee shops.

Your hosts and instructors will be flutists Lea Kibler, Debby Heller, and harpist Valerie Von Pechy Whitcup. We will coach you in flute trio and quartet literature and provide private lessons. Also offered are flute and harp, improvisation, introduction to flute repair, and flute choir sessions.

The week will begin with a get-acquainted wine and cheese party and conclude with an ensemble recital of all participants and a farewell dinner. In between there will be ample time for both structured and informal "I can't get enough" playing, and exploring this beautiful mountain region.

This course is designed for the nonprofessional flutist who wants to play with others. Unlike flute master classes, every participant, regardless of his or her level, is a performer. We hope that our Asheville location and comfortable B&B accommodations will make this week a great mountain vacation as well as a valuable educational experience.

Bring your favorite traveling companions. There is plenty for them to enjoy in Asheville, even if they are not flutists.
